After over a decade of being a loyal Time Warner Cable customer, I'm considering breaking free.
The only other option, though, is CenturyLink. I have no interest whatsoever in DirectTV, but CenturyLink now offers a service called PrismTV. If I get a TV/phone/internet bundle, I will save about $60/month and I will have HBO.
Does anyone have experience with CenturyLink, or more specifically, PrismTV? What about their internet service? We're looking at the 10mbps.
We just dumped TWC and went with Century Link about 2 weeks ago (for TV /internet/phone). We are also saving $80/mo (for 6 months, then $60 thereafter). We are fairly pleased with the service and offerings. I do miss TWC's on demand options. There are some on demand programs with Prism, but I have not seen any for children's programming (what I depended on; Nick Jr. Disney Jr. Sprout). We do like the "whole house DVR" and not paying for their standard 2 set top boxes. We went directly to their retail store at their headquarters in Wake Forest/Youngsville right off US-1. You can literally see all the equipment and in action as well as work with someone one on one. The internet seems a tiny bit slower but the fact that we haven't had to reboot our DVR box on a daily basis is awesome.
Aren't you limited to a certain number of HD Streams though? How many TVs do you have HD on at a time? I was told 3 or 4 I think when I called and talked to them.
I went and checked them out a few weeks ago. The HUGE problem I saw is that you can only watch/record one HD program at a time. They said they were only testing multiple streams of HD in one market elsewhere and there was no ETA for here. That was all I had to hear to rule it out.

Perhaps Jules_NC can comment on the HD streaming? TBH, it won't be a huge issue for me, as I only have two TVs anyway.
I haven't been able to come up with a lot for the area with Google searches. If all else fails, I will begrudgingly go back to TWC. I am really hoping that CenturyLink/PrismTV will at least be as good as TWC with a smaller price.

Two hundred and thirty two people have read this, but only one person has PrismTV?
Bueller? Bueller?
TWC did call me tonight to try to get me to keep service with them by lowering my bill to $87/month for two years. I was tempted, but my decision was based on principle, not money. :/

On the off chance that anyone else comes around for info about PrismTV & CenturyLink...
I had mine installed yesterday. It was flawless; I was without TV for around 30 minutes and didn't ever miss internet while the installer was switching me over. My home phone was out for around 30 minutes as well.
I was 100% satisfied with the installation, and so far, I am very happy with PrismTV. It's a bit of a learning curve, of course, but so far, so good.

Can I ask what you were paying? And did you have to cancel or just threaten? Both services or just TV?
