There is a predominately lesbian bar in Durham that used to be called Steel Blue but has changed names...darn I can't remember the name of it. You can try calling the LGBT Center of Raleigh (which actually serves the whole Triangle) at 919-832-4484 to get the new name?

I also know that Francesca's (ice cream/gelato) on Ninth St in Durham is lesbian-owned, and I suspect you could get "the scene" from there. Never heard of any stripper clubs in this area geared towards lesbians! The also may be some facebook groups for local lesbians, where you could ask?

The Triangle is a local GLBT newspaper and might have something.

The gay "bar scene", male or female, is pretty sad in this area, despite quite a thriving community.

One thing I always thought was unfair in this area was how women can go into a strip club whenever they want but if there's a male revue night men aren't allowed into the club. What's up with that?

That would be known as "homophobia"...but is beyond the scope of this thread.

It's now "The Bar" that I believe the OP was referring to in her first post (unless there's another place with the same name somewhere else). It's right down the block from Fullsteam and Motorco and next to the new Surf Club bar on Rigsbee.

Thanks everyone for the input! I've been to "The Bar" in Durham, it's a pretty cool place - although a bit far from me (I'm in Knightdale). It's mixed, not just lesbians.

I myself have NEVER been to a strip club lol, but seeing as how I've recently had my heart ripped from my chest I thought it might be nice to treat myself to a lovely lap dance as well. BAHAHAHA

I have heard of some strip clubs that don't allow women in without men? or a man? Again, I have no idea what goes on because I've never been.

Just tryin' to get a feel for the situation.

Have you been to The Pinhook? Although not a "gay bar" by any sense of the word (all folks are there, even straight folks like me), it has a larger lesbian draw than the average bar. It's very.... divey... but I love the place. At least once a week they do a theme night that has a large LBGT draw.

Hmm you know I have no idea since I've always gone with guys. I bet if you looked on the websites of clubs in the area they have their rules posted somewhere.

You can get a lapdance at the club off 440, the "fancy" one being mentioned above, The Men's Club. Many women don't have a problem doing a private dance for women. Money is money!

Wednesday night is couples night and couples get in free.

Their food is good, my partner and I split a meal, but drinks are way pricey (shocker, I know), so start drinking before you go (and call a cab, have a DD or call the scooter service - I do not promote drunk/buzzed driving).

I have also sent you a DM.

Enjoy!

What about the Burrough downtown? Not a strip club, but a great bar that is packed with LGBT folks.

AWESOME food too.
