We are looking to buy some trees and shrubs for our new home. We are looking for nursery recommendations based on quality, selection and affordability.
Thanks for all info and replies.
We will consider all prospective nurseries within 90 minutes of Wendell.
I'd recommend the farmer's market in downtown Raleigh. We were recently shopping for a redbud tree and they were $65 to $100 at the various nursuries we looked at. One of comparable size was $25 at the farmer's market.
Broadwells in Angier, there are 2 others on the same road that are close. Not sure if it close enough to yo but by far the cheapest prices.
Search other threads on CD for Broadwells. Great place to buy if you know what you are looking for, but can be intimating to some, as nothing is labeled.

The other two are Old Stage Nursery and Tar Hell Nursery. The former is similar to Broadwells but smaller (walkable). Tar Heel is more of a retail shop.
As noted, search this forum and you'll find much information on them.
Broadwells, Old Stage and Tarheels are the best. We have no landscaping or gardening knowledge and did great picking out plants and trees at these places. We got tons of great information and ideas from the latter two, and bought from all three. Well worth the drive. You'll save a ton and get really healthy (and more mature) plants and trees.
The plants at the Farmer's Market are of varying quality. I bought two Sky Pencil hollies which both promptly began to die when I brought them home. I researched the problem and found it was a virus, so I pulled them out and burned them to keep any of my other plants from getting it. Buy with caution.
