Even California farmers admit their strawberries are grown for shelf life, not flavor. In order for a soft berry to get from the West Coast to here without rotting it's picked before it has a chance to develop most of its sugars and then gassed to have it ripen red. Learned about the strawberry industry in one of my classes at State; really interesting stuff.
Just went to Prince Farm today in Apex on Salem St. heard about it from a friend. The strawberries were very nice, big and ripe I bought pre picked but you can pick your own.
How's the farm near Brier Creek? What's it called and how much is it there.
