Just read that AR is building a middle school and slated to open in 2015. Does this mean elementary kids in AR will be forced to feed into AR middle school? Wondering if they will grandfather the current feeder pattern for kids enrolled there already?

Anybody with such experience in the past?

That's what happened with the Leesville school complex when it first opened but they followed the more logical building pattern of high school --> middle school --> elementary school.

Based on the past (and does that REALLY mean anything these days?!), I predict that AR Middle will be YR like AR Elem and it will become the area middle school for YR elem feeding patterns. I could see some of the Morrisville YR elementary schools feeding into AR Middle, depending on its size. I don't know if they'd reach as far south as Highcroft for a feeder school, but it's possible.

My crystal ball is frequently wrong, though, so I would practice a very healthy skepticism.

Wouldn't this just give the AR elementary school kids an additional choice when choosing a middle school? Although you have been guaranteed a feeder pattern, rising 6th graders will still have a few other to choose from.

I believe that AR is designated to be YR. Alston Ridge Middle will FINALLY take the pressure off and let some Middle schoolers who live in the western part of Cary actually go to school in the Western part of Cary.

I know this is a year old thread, but are there any new updates regarding when (or if) the Alston Ridge Middle School will be built?

Castle, Perhaps you posted on a day when no one knew the answer to your question, but I am looking for the same information.

Anyone have an update on AR Middle?

Thanks

Yeah, I would really like to know if this is going to come to fruition, or not. It'll be the difference in a smooth transition for my daughter and a really hard transition for her and for us (her parents). I can't find any information on the subject, at all.

This is all going to change as the board are doing a big reassignment plan next year.

Is this school even on the radar anymore? It's not part of the building plan through 2018 in the last bond issue.
