That corner is one of the biggest traps in wake county. I've even seen cops on bikes just hanging there waiting for people to cross the double yellow to get into the left turning lane.
So, you had to pull into the through lane from Page st, and due to traffic stopped in the right turn lane were not able to immediately move over, then rode toward the train tracks before finally moving to the right and then turning? Did you have to stop through traffic when you did this? I have a hard time seeing what you did wrong unless you did impede the through traffic.
That is a tough intersection. They were actually originally going to do a median in that area so that cars could not make the left turn from Page movement you made precisely because of traffic always being backed up. The idea was that Page and Church would use Jeremiah st to get to Town Hall and turn left at what was going to be a light, but because they waited so darn long to do it and did not extend Crabtree Crossing per the original promised work when the bond was passed, they left those parts out.
Very tough intersection. I don't recommend anyone using N.Page St if your plan is to make a right on 54/Chapel Hill Rd. During rush hour, there is not enough time or space to merge right after you've made the left turn.
Hopefully, that picture will help you explain (& win) your case....though it may take at least 2 trips to the courthouse....but it'll be worth it if you win. Good luck.
I used to travel that exact intersection a lot and it's a nightmare. Town of Morrisville should put a stoplight there coming out of Church St onto Morrisville Carpenter. That is always one scary merge and I see tons of cars always trying to make that turn so don't feel bad since you aren't the first.
Morrisville for such a small town sure has a lot of cops. Sometimes they need to meet their quota. I got a ticket just because my rear bulb went out.
Sherifftruman So after merging to the middle lane i tried to merge to right lane but traffic didnt allow me then i merged sightly and moved forward so i wont impede the through traffic. I attached image where i stopped and waited to merge to right lane.
I was waiting before the train track. I draw the box incorrectly.
