We are moving from AZ to Raleigh next month. We plan on dumping our land line and just using cellular service.

We're not huge phone users, and rarely text. We use our laptops and tablets for surfing the internet and will have wireless in the house. We use Garmin GPS for the cars. I admit, it would be nice to be able to access the internet from the phone without a wi-fi connection at times, but it isn't something we would do very often. And I very much like the idea of being able to sync with my google calendar and contacts.

But I hate dropped calls - this is why we still have a landline in our current home (the cellular service is spotty in the desert mountains of Mesa). Additionally, husband is hard of hearing, so sound quality is important.

Which cellular service company should we be considering?

I agree with that order at least as far as coverage goes. We had Alltel/Verizon for many years with no problems. We changed to Tracfone because our usage patern made it much cheaper. Tracfone uses either Verizon or AT&T or T-Mobile networks depending on which phone you buy. Mine is on AT&T and hers is on Verizon. Around Raleigh can't tell much difference in the coverage, but in rural areas hers on Verizon definately has better coverage than mine on AT&T.

Verizon has the best coverage but I have Sprint because it's 50 dollars a month cheaper for my husband and I.

I have Sprint and visited the area a few times. I had a pretty low signal in some areas in Northern Raleigh, but overall it was pretty good. Check out the sites coverage maps for the area, and then shop for prices. Sprint will probably be quite a bit cheaper than Verizon or ATT. Especially if you get more than one phone on your line.

I had Verizon for years and never got any service and HORRIBLE experiences with the customer service .. being over charged constantly .. was charged numerous times for having two lines and i only have one , i have since switched to sprint and never looked back .
