I'm not by any means.. just trying to info from peoples experiences or local knowledge. I've personally done my own research and got information from the departments directly.. pretty much all of them. I know I looked at State police and I think they fact they seemed primarily traffic.. wouldn't be appealing to my husband and the current work he enjoys now. I think Wake County's shift schedule was less ideal compared to others we have researched... but I have literally... pages of notes on all of the departments I have called or emailed haha.

NC does not have a "state police" agency. Many people confuse NC Highway Patrol with that but they are strictly a traffic enforcement agency. If you dont enjoy working traffic then they are not for you.

Durham or Raleigh may be a good choice as they have higher call volumes.

I was referring to such agencies as the SBI or Capital Police which I believe are indeed state police agencies although I do not work in law enforcement.
