Does anyone know of any new developments in the $300,000-$400,000 range that have a real fireplace as an option and not the gas logs? Thanks in advance. Can be anywhere in the Triangle.

My suggestion would be that you find a neighborhood that you really like, thats being built by CUSTOM builders. For example, The ParK At West Lake in Cary.

You would choose a lot that you like and then choose one of their custom builders to build your home. At that point, you'd have the option to get a wood burning fireplace. It WILL cost more, especially if you want a masonary chimney.

As for re sale...the majority of people nowadays want the convenience of gas logs.

My house is 17 years old and we converted our wood burning fireplace to gas about 7 years ago. So, if you find a home like ours, you could easily convert it back to wood burning. No, mine isn't for sale!
