so we've been looking for a rental in Amberly, Cary. Trying to keep to $1200-1300 for a SF house about 1700sq ft and up with a garage. No luck so far.

Looking at townhomes now since the sq footage is comparable. We've lived in townhomes previously and can sometimes hear our neighbors going up the stairs since that's the shared wall. As we have three young children, it can get noisy from time to time. Are the walls so thin that we will bother our neighbors?

Will you live in a townhome with 3 children ages 4 and under?

Thanks in advance

Hello, we rent a townhouse in Westover Park in Cary. I have never heard my neighbors next door . It is pretty quiet. You might want to check Craig's list , this is where I found mine and we are happy renting here..close to everything, quiet neighbors and easily accessible to whatever we need. Good luck.

I don't know what price range you can go up to but the house down the street is really nice and the owners are getiing it ready to rent out ASAP.

It's in Cary......Lexington at Amberly.

It's a big house and it's $1500/mo.

There are 2 huge pools/clubhouse/exercise room/gym, etc...for the neighborhood to use.

Let me know if you want more info.

Hi NC gal!

Thank you so much! The day I found a great place in NC, we get news of a job offer we can't refuse...downside however is that it is in Boston, MA! All my hours of research on Cary are for naught!!

I really want to thank everyone on this board for your help

I still want to move to NC one day.

Depending on the neighbors you have will make the difference. If they are loud you will be sunk, all townhomes these days are built with 3/4 inch gypsium board between the units and a so called air gap for noise reduction. UH they really don't work. You will hear your loud neighbors, the TV the plumbing etc. Gone are the days of cinderblock and brick between the units.
