Hello All,

We are coming in from out of town to visit the area and have no idea what to do all weekend. Do you have any ideas? Are there any festivals or events planned?

What else should we make it a point to see?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

The Carrboro Music Festival takes place over that weekend.
Carrboro Music Festival - Sunday, September 30, 2007

The Parade of Homes will be taking place in a number of local counties during that time. Here's a thread about it (be sure to check out my post on page 3).

If your ears are up to it, there is the Capital City Bike Fest in downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville Street. I can't find a good link to a website for it, but they close off Fayetteville Street and fill it with Harleys. The people watching alone is a reason to go.

Also in downtown Raleigh will be the grand opening of the new kids museum created from combining Exploris (a global learning musuem aimed at 7-15) and Playspace (a kids play museum). Coming929 - Raleigh's New Kids Museum (broken link)

The Opera Company of North Carolina, along with the North Carolina Symphony are doing the Marriage of Figaro at the Progress Energy Center. The Opera Company of North Carolina > Home

If you have kids with you and want them to see an approachable theater performance, Wake County schools is putting on Les Miserables at Progress Energy on Friday and Saturday too. Broadway Series South :: Raleigh, North Carolina

If you are a fan, Smithfield is having their Ava Gardner festival. Ava Gardner Museum

I'd definitely recommend checking out the Parade of Homes. Lots of fun seeing the multi-million dollar homes.

Thumbs up Dogtoberfest Next Saturday 11am - 3pm

If you like animals I would recommend checking out Dogtoberfest at Oakwood Dog Park - 910 Brookside Drive Raleigh, NC 27604.

It's From 11:00am until 3:00pm on Satruday, the 29th of Sept.

This fun filled event is for the whole family and is hosted by and benefits PawFect Match. There is a flea market and a raffle that each vendor has to donate too, so you can purchase and/or win lots of items and all the $$ goes to rescue. There will be both a micro-chipping and a rabies clinic, local pet related AND non-pet related vendors, and lots of fun filled activities like freestyle dog dancing, face painting, music and so much more. I hope to see you there, I am a participating vendor and my husband is also setting up, representing his company Re/Max Hometown!
