Also, there are tons of bungalows in the older neighborhoods in Durham- try Trinity Park, Duke Park and Watts-Hillandale for starters...
Oh- and we rented a darling Arts and Crafts bungalow in Downtown Apex, and I believe these homes are going to sell at considerably less than what you'll find in Raleigh. The downtown area of Apex is adorable.
There is a newer neighborhood in Apex called "Scotts Mill" that is quite affordable and used to have a sign up that said something like "The Renaissance of the Bungalow". I looked there a few years ago and was happy to see that I could actually afford one of those bungalows... I, too, have a passion for bungalows.
I went in search of the downtown area of Apex when I was there in June. If I stay on Davis Drive, does it take me right there? I didn't have GPS and I'd stupidly left my map at my friend's house in Cary so I never did find it and I was bummed because I wanted to see it!
Yes, Davis turns into Salem Street, which will take you right through the historic downtown and right by my old bungalow/farmhouse. I always loved the ITB bungalows, but they were far more than I was willing to spend.
Rats. I probably turned around before I hit the downtown area then.
