I am obsessed with them. Any realtors out there know of any nice ones in established neighborhoods in Raleigh and surrounding areas??
Boylan Heights, (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikejaquish/sets/72157600360485458/show/ - broken link)Mordecai, 5 points, Wilmont, Oakwood (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikejaquish/sets/72157600211665063/ - broken link) come to mind immediately.
For newer bungalow styles you might consider Bedford at Falls River or Scott's Mill in Apex.
Then it is a matter of finding one that is available...
Ok, now that I am drooling all over my laptop, what price range could I get one that is smaller, around 1500 square feet.
I prefer the older ones, so this is exactly what I had in mind.

Depends on the neighborhood.
The Raleigh Boylan and Oakwood neighborhoods can run to $250/SF, although you can find them for less, particularly in Mordecai.
And, do they need to be in tip-top condition, or are you a fixer to any degree?
My husband is quite handy. I still have to make up mind and make the move of course before buying, but this is the kind of house I NEED to own someday.
Regarding Mordecai...
With some realtor sites, you may also notice neighborhoods called "Oakdale" or "Capital Heights", which are adjacent to Mordecai. Sometimes, this is all considered to be Mordecai, just depends on the realtor, but all are pretty similar. These are the sections just outside of the regulations of the "historic district", so you may be able to find a cool bungalow a tiny bit cheaper.
Regarding 5 Points...
"Fallon Park" and "Roanoke Park" are sometimes lumped in with 5 Points, but you may find these as separate listings also, so check those out as well.
You'll find some larger bungalows mixed in the nice Glenwood-Brooklyn neighborhood as well, (but they'll be very pricey!!!)

Some of these photos really remind me of Burlington Vermont!! Burlington has the same look with some of its houses... I think I need to take a drive to some of these neighborhoods this weekend...! Thanks for the great photos North Raleigh Guy!
