Hi! Ive just started researching Holly Springs, Apex, Cary, etc... and I am in love with what I am seeing real estate wise and all the positive threads Ive read on this board. Im from the coast of overpriced CT and NEEED a change for the better!!!

I am having a difficult time trying to find out what the taxes, property taxes, would be on a ... lets say 2000 sq ft house on .25-.50 acre that sold for $200,000. How about car taxes?

Thanks!!

It depends on the town, but it's about 1% of the appraised value in Cary. So you'd be looking at around $2000. Car taxes are about 1% annually. We paid $500 last year on a 2006 Odyssey and a 2003 Pilot. It will also cost around $200 each car to register. These are ballpark figures.

Nice job. If your home is assesed at $200,000 (not purchase price) and your live in Cary within the city limits your tax rate for 2007 is 1.098. Price is bases upon $100 per assesed value multiplied by the tax rate.

Calculations:

$200,000/100=$2,000

$2,000x1.098=$2,196 property tax

If I did my math correctly, $2,196 would be your property tax based on an assesed value of $200,000 not purchase price.

Hope this helps.
