Last week, I witnessed an older lady lose control of her car and hit 7 other cars in the Whole Foods parking lot off of Wade Avenue. Yesterday, I saw a gentleman speeding in the same parking lot and almost hit a mother and her child. The driving in the Whole Foods/Ridgewood shopping center is out of control! Who can I contact about possibly getting a courtesy officer writing tickets or something. It's my understanding that someone was killed in this parking lot a few years ago by similar bad driving, and I'm nervous that something like this is going to happen again.
Thank you. More than frustration, I don't want someone to be severely maimed or killed in this parking lot again. It seems almost inevitable with the crazy driving that goes down there daily.
This is the name of the shopping center you mentioned. If you contact the management directly and make your concerns known, they may tell you what they are doing or planning to do about their parking lot situation.
When I lived in CA and was working with the elderly and had identified some elderly drivers that shouldn't have been driving I was able to report anonymously to the DMV. You could contact the shopping center BUT what about when these people leave the parking lot?? I would take a look at the DMV website and see if there is anything you can do with regard to unsafe drivers and how to report.
I got stopped by a Cary cop in Crossroads one time, but he was just being a jerk and had nothing on me...so I got no tickets. But "private property" means nothing.
I feel the same way as the OP, but about Brier Creek. Every time I go over there, I see way too many cars flying through that shopping center. It's nearly impossible to back out of one of the spaces that face the stores, without simply just backing on out and cutting traffic off. People will not stop to let cars back out. Many times the speeding cars will honk the horn at you as they speed past, while you're trying to back out of a space. It was a HORRIBLE design plan. I wonder how many people have been run down at Brier Creek. I don't hear about it on the news, but I'd bet a paycheck its happened numerous times. That place also has several 4-way stops...and those things are a nightmare. No one seems to fully understand how a 4 way stop is supposed to work. Well, they MAY understand, but I think impatience and greed take over. I drive through the 4 way stop at Durant and Honeycutt often, and that one is a nightmare as well, during the busier hours. When it backs up, most people tend to think "freight-training" is perfectly OK. That's when the front car in one line goes, and 4 or 5 cars behind it treat it like a green light and also go.
