Hi all, Just a quick post from an aviation buff: We live in northern Durham County, where north-approaches to RDU line up on base-approach, before making a right turn onto final-approach at the junction of Hwy 50 and 98 (that's the final turn just south of Falls Lake).
Around 5-5:15pm, several commercial aircraft (a couple Southwests and one USAirways and a couple others) flew over our house in Rougemont at lower than normal altitude ... heading north...as if they were in a holding pattern. I've never seen this before anywhere, but I think this is what it was. I'm thinking the big t-storm cell over western Wake County around 5pm-5:15pm had something to do with it. Yes, we're totally just hanging out in the backyard on the 4th with the wi-fi running and thus I have the time and gee-whiz to post this. Kinda non-sequiter, but thought I'd mention it.
