I have a cousin and her boyfriend in town this weekend. I;m trying to find something fun to do tonight and tomorrow night. A cute restaurant to eat at down town with out door seating maybe or just something going on. Anyone have any suggestions? Anything in Raleigh or even Cary to do or good different place to eat.
You could enjoy the buffet dinner during the music or head on up to Franklin Street afterwards to one of the many fine restaurants there. Get an above-the-street view from the covered patio at Top of the Hill restaurant.
It looks fun. I'm not so familiar with bluegrass music but it sounds like something nice to do. What kind of food do they have? My cousins boyfriend can't eat gluten so it makes it a little difficult =/

The food at the music series varies some by week. They do have a standard grill menu - like burgers or chicken. They also serve beer and wine.
I can't help much with gluten free questions. There is a local gluten free blog with some restaurant reviews. It does mention Spanky's as having some gluten free options (corner of Franklin and Columbia, across from Top of the Hill).
Actually, Bluegrass is about 1000 more fun in person than on a recording. Almost anyone can get into the spirit of it (I typically don't care for "Country") I've been wanting to find a bluegrass festival to attend.
I agree with Francois. I like a some bluegrass music (such as Alison Kraus & Union Station), but not so much the more traditional "hillbilly" type.
The stuff I've heard at Carolina Inn has all been excellent with a broad-based appeal (although I've not hear tonight's band).
