Must be run by a bunch of college freshmen if they think "early morning" means 8am start time

I would not recommend Cuban Revolution for anything near "authentic".

El Coyote opens up early, if I remember correctly. Or try stopping by any of the other 30-something taquerias in town.

It's already been established that breakfast tacos aren't authentic anyway

Just saying that it's no more Cuban than Taco Bell is Mexican.

We're not looking for "authentic" Cuban either. We're looking for breakfast tacos

Los Comales in Durham has been referenced before in this forum as serving breakfast. I can't vouch for what they have. A web search (no website, apparently) suggests they open at 9:00 a.m., which seems promising for breakfast fare.

Migas are typically served with refried beans, and corn or flour tortillas are used to enfold all of the ingredients into tacos. In some areas, it may have been traditionally eaten during Lent.[6] The meat version adds a spicy chorizo to the standard ingredients. The tortilla strips can also be deep-fried until crunchy (not traditional).
I've been following this discussion wondering what a "breakfast taco" was. Maybe the OP needs to admit that he's not in Texas any more, and make them at home. It didn't look too difficult, and you can find chorizo in the supermarket. Here's a recipe: Authentic Mexican Breakfast Tacos Recipe - Allrecipes.com

Find a good fresh tortilla may be the tricky part. Are they made in the Triangle?

Yes, there's lots of tortillarias that make fresh tortillas around here, especially in Durham.

I know, I know, definitely not in Texas anymore - one quick look at the barbecue here will confirm that! And breakfast tacos are pure tex-mex, definitely, but still much loved by tex-mexicans, non-mexicans and mex-mexicans alike.

Part of the joy of the breakfast taco is not cooking it. Ideally they are served out of a brown paper sack, individually wrapped in aluminum foil, with tiny tubs of salsa on the side. About two dozen places in walking distance of my house used to make 'em. I swear they will kill hangovers, fuel recovery from any sport, and get you through a 12-hour shift on your feet, any day.

<sigh> I'll try out some of the taquerias on Roxboro. I do love Durham and have had great food here. I just had no idea how much I would miss my favorite breakfast.
