The selection of 15 sites for early-voting in Wake County drew a complaint from one county commissioner who says the sites skew heavily in favor of Democrats, and others are upset because they don't think the $1.7 million to fund early voting is being spent well.

Yeah I listened to that one commissioner's belly-aching on NPR last night and just kind of rolled my eyes. We're only talking about an extra four days of voting at some locations and those locations were chosen for the extra four days because historically they've been the busiest centers for early voting. From a monetary standpoint it makes more sense to have the busiest centers open more days than to have a center that isn't busy open for extra days.

Maybe I'm an idiot (actualy, I'm certain I am) but I fail to see how using rec and community centers for early voting favors one party or another.

Opponents say that these centers are located mostly in districts that tend to vote Democratic, etc etc. Never mind anyone in Wake County can go to any early voting location to vote, regardless of where in Wake County they are registered.

Exactly!! I'm sure many early voters use sites that are closer to work.

Huh, imagine that. Never would've guessed a senior center in Cary was a Democratic stronghold.

I totally agree that they should use the money wisely and open the centers more likely to be busy during early voting. I wish I could give you a rep point but I must spread around some more.
