I know 2 or 3 people that have been there. Only got reviews of the beers as that's what I would be interested in. They said that their Imperial IPA and Black IPA were very good. Pale ale was only so-so. They also have a Scottish ale, but I do not remember the reviews on it.
IMHO I can't see it doing well without food. I like a good beer with a meal or a sandwich but to go just for the beer is not my thing, and I suspect there are many like me out there.
Fullsteam Brewery in Durham follows the same model (Beer Only, no food). The place is jam packed every time I go there. I think as long as White Street does the beer thing well, they will thrive. I've been to some brepubs that serve terrible food and think they should just stick to what they know - beer. I also hope White Street will develop the symbiotic relationship with food trucks that Fullsteam has. That is a recipe for a good time.

I'm with you on that - not sure I see myself going there for just beer either...that's why I'm really curious to see how this place does. I think NRG's idea of teaming up with or fostering a relationship with some food trucks is a good one.

Actually, Fullsteam does offer some food - they usually have chips, peanuts, and moon pies for sale as well as a cheese plate from Reliable Cheese company.
However, Carolina Brewing Company, Roth, Big Boss, and Lonerider all lack food. It's really not that big a deal, IMO. I go to a brewery for the beer, not the food. If a food truck is there, even better, but it's not a make or break for me. The only breweries in the area with an affiliated restaurant are Top of the Hill and Carolina Brewery (both of which are brewpubs) and Aviator. Most breweries I've been to lack a food option.
White Street Brewery encourages you to bring or order food while you're there. A deli/pizzeria is just a couple doors down, and Over the Falls is a couple of blocks away, and delivers.
Based on the crowds shown in the pictures they are posting on their Facebook page it does not appear that the lack of food is preventing the place from being regularly packed!
