HELP!! Jobless and Homeless in Durham, NC

So sad that some people have to go thru this....Hope she can come back into City-Data to see all of the great suggestions...I agree with waitressing over retail. My daughter has been doing it for several years and she's been able to support herself while going to college without asking us for help.

Why does everyone assume that because a person who is homeless and jobless has not done all of the suggestions provided at least a dozen or more times trying to make changes. I was homeless for over a year and I worked a 40 hour + week job. My financial obligations to my children did not allow me enough to take care of myself. I had to leave my job to go back home to bury my mom, after a month I came back here to no job and still homeless. Why? For my 5 year old son who moved out here in 2012 when his mother relocated (BY CHOICE) for work
