We have a fridge that worked perfectly when we unplugged it a few years ago. Now it has sat unplugged for a while and isn't cooling properly since we plugged it back in. The lights work, the fan works, etc. It just doesn't cool. Do you all know of any organizations that take appliances and repair them? I already checked with Habitat for Humanity Restore and they don't take them. The fridge was bought new and only used a year before unplugging so I feel like there is still life in it if someone knows how to fix it. We would love for someone to benefit from it if possible. I guess the worst case scenario is we will recycle it. Thanks in advance for any other resources you can suggest.
Yeah, we can do that but were hoping to get a tax donation receipt. But thanks for the suggestion.
If it is not working it really doesn't have any tax value to donate in my opinion. I would just get rid of it on FreeCycle or Craiglist and call it a day.

Yes, that's true, my mom donated an old TV. She said they told her they have people to fix electronics. I think that is so cool, keeps stuff out of landfills, and people employed.
Thanks so much for this resource, but does anyone know the local number to call for this group? This link takes me to a homepage that doesn't give any information about how to donate items to the Raleigh thrift store, only how to donate money to their national headquarters. I have searched and just can't figure out how to contact them.
