Just wondering if there are any no kill shelters that anyone knows of around the area? Dog is a 3 year old AKC certified Shepherd.

— North Carolina German Shepherd Rescue — ADOPTIONS —*RescueMe.Org

Not my dog but someone else's I know.

Smart animal even knows German commands.

Played w/ my dog great but we don't have enough time to say yes/no to fostering and they are taking the dog tomorrow to put it down...just found out about it yesterday...

I would suggest trying to contact Saving Grace in Wake Forest. I know several people who have adopted dogs from there. They screen families to determine if they are suitable for the pet that they want to adopt. Dog Rescue & Dog Adoption - Saving Grace Animals for Adoption, NC. Serving the Wake Forest, Raleigh, Durham areas in NC.

We're not trying to adopt, someone I know can't hold on to their dog due to an issue with their baby.

Independent Animal Rescue is a no kill rescue out of Durham. They don't have a shelter, all of the dogs are housed in volunteers homes. We adoped our Maisy from them last year, they were very easy to work with on the adopting side of things so I imagine they would be on the rescue side as well.

Good luck!

The problem with all those places is you can't just drop off a dog. He's looking for a place to drop off the dog.

How about trying to correct the dog's behavior problems, for example: Home She may just need an assertive handler who trains her to behave.

Perhaps also advertise the dog in the newspaper, but don't expect to just "drop it off'. That's irresponsible.

You could call Paws 4 Ever. They are a no kill shelter, but they're not a drop off the animal place. They may know someone who would foster the dog, though.

Maybe I'm confused, but what kind of rescue group would take an adoptable dog into its program then put it down?????????!

I don't think rescue groups take dogs though. I'm not sure where they get them but you can't just drive up and drop off a dog.
