Dix Hill is really beautiful at night. It's very quiet and has a lovely view of downtown Raleigh. Just walk in the main entrance on Western Blvd, over a little bridge at the south end of Boylan Ave., and walk up the hill and bear left. There are lawns with trees and bushes, and there is hardly ever anybody there. At the foot of the hill is a stream with an old gazebo.

Thanks, but I don't know what is Dix Hills? Is it a park or what?
How can I get there? Address will be very helpful.
Just follow the Dix 306 signs! Sersiously, Dix Hill is on the grounds of Dorothea Dix Hospital off of Western Blvd. Its a beautiful property, and one that's been in the news a lot lately as the hospital is closing and there are differing opinions on what should be done with the Dix land.
On a clear night with a full moon, a night hike on the Falls Lake Trail would be great! There are a number of places where you can take little side trails to the lakeshore for what would certainly be beautiful views of the moon on the water.
I guess this only applies assuming we still have a Falls Lake, however!
Mrs Steel,
Are the gardens open in the late evening or at night though? I think the OP wants to have a moonlight stroll.
The gardens are always open. Students often times use it as a cut-through between West campus and some of the student housing that is a little farther out. Not sure if the parking lot is open, though.
