^^^ Great post.

And per the election the State itself went Romney but Wake, Durham, and Orange County (Chapel Hill) All went Democratic. Typically cities and metropolitian areas will go Blue. Not that it matters. The Triangle is a fantastic place. Make sure you see.. Durham near the Performing Arts Center/Tobacco Revitalization area, Chapel Hill around the University and Downtown. Raleigh Downtown Capitol area and North Hills on the nature side there are plenty-o-parks here.

Default Condos In/Around Triangle Area

Thanks! My next question is are there any stand-alone/one-story condo areas/communities that anyone recommends around the area? ;-)

Well, we were Blue by the thinnest margin of any state in 2008, and Red by the thinnest margin of any state in 2012. That about sums up NC politics: extremely Purple. Currently, the state government has taken a rather serve shift to the Right, however, after a century of Democratic hold. We have traditionally been a split-ticket state, most often going Red nationally and Blue at the state level. This is the first time we've been Red pretty much all the way down. I fear a lot of Northern Republicans who are new to the areas don't realize just how different Southern Republicans are from Northeastern ones.

I just wanted to make sure that it was bearable there to not have kids (it seems like I get asked all the time why I don't have kids or married and it's frustrating)!
There is an active social group in the Triangle called No Kidding for childfree folks. They have bimonthly Happy Hours plus other events, book clubs and outings. I would strongly recommend dropping by a Happy Hour sometime and meeting them. When I used to go sometimes, it was an extremely nice bunch!

Default @ Francois

Thanks Francois! I looked at their website (they don't have "NoKidding" in Hampton Roads) and I was surprised that they didn't have this book listed:

The Childless by Choice Project

I have it and it's a great book! I'll have to check out the group sometime if I do end up moving!

So what are the differences between Northern/Northeast and Southern Republicans? ;-)

I like the fact that the state is more "Purple." I always thought it was interesting that the blue/red states colors were changed after 2000:

Red states and blue states - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanks again, everyone!
