Already checked Lowe's and HD, neither can do it. Any suggestions? It needs to be a very precise cut so I wanted it done somewhere professionally..it's not a big piece, about 3x4.

Have you considered asking at a sheet metal shop?

I have not...I do not know of any sheet metal shops. I have goggled and found many sheet metal fabricator, HVAC ductwork places etc, but most seem like specialty industries and based on their websites, I'm not seeing that as a service. I was hoping maybe there is a hardware store or something that offers this service (Burke Brothers is closed on Sundays).
This is just for a small craft project.

I wonder if the guys at TechShop could point you to somewhere or maybe even do it in their facilities for a fee.

Raleigh Sheet Metal on Pershing Rd. should be able to help with that...or they used to anyway. They're off Capitol Blvd. near downtown.

If you need a precision cut then these are the places to do it, not a Hardware Store. They can put on the table of their CNC Plasma Cutter if use of a Shear or "Iron Worker" isn't precise enough.

Try Dillon Supply in Raleigh, we have steel sheets cut there for work.

Some more detail would help. If you just have a big sheet you need cut preciously in half, that's one thing.
If you need it cut into a very complicated shape with curves and long straight lines, then you will probably have to find some place with a plasma cutter and give them a cutting program. (or a CAD file at least).

Not a complicated shape, just a rectangle, probably 12 inches by 18 inches.

What Gauge? 14? 12? stainless?, carbon steel? Galvi?

coming from a welder, id suggest:

Either Apex Steel in Raleigh, or Stainless Steel Fabricators in Raleigh as well..

Stainless Steel Fab would be my ideal choice. good luck.
