My brain seems to be mushy from too many Christmas preparations, so I hope I'm clear on this.

In the past, I've ordered the ham from Red, Hot and Blue as a second Christmas entree. (I prepare the first entree at home, usually Sauerbraten, and I prepare all of the sides, breads and desserts ... the take-out entree is a bit of a break for me, and a chance to enjoy something a little different.) That's nice, but I'm wondering if there is something different out there; some restaurant that has some special orders for Christmas.

Back in NY, I used to get heat and eat lobster ravioli from my favorite seafood place, or sauerbraten from my favorite German deli (since there aren't many delis here ... a restaurant or two, yes, but not a deli, which is why I now make it myself) ... that sort of thing. I know that supermarkets have Christmas dinners, but that isn't quite what I meant. I mean a restaurant that serves great food all year, and offers heat and eat entrees specially for the holidays.

Something not horribly expensive would be nice, as well ... feeding five hungry eaters with a little left over to take home. (This leaves out catered dishes at some restaurants, unfortunately ... I really don't want something that feeds 10 - 20. )

Any ideas? Thanks for any you can offer.

I'm a big fan of Foster's Market. They have weekly family dinners for 2 or 4 and also usually offer special meals around the major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. You could order a whole meal for 4 for $99 and add-on some other sides to round it out or order entrees individually. All the food is yummy!

Older threads on city-data asking about ordering/pick-up/dining out for Thanksgiving or Christmas has a suggestion for Mimi's Cafe. Looks like they also have a full meal for 6-8 people for $89.

Nick from Porchetta made a damn good pork loin with all the trimmings for Thanksgiving (I tried a small bit of his turkey too and it was delicious). I think he said he'll be doing it again for Christmas.

I second this recommendation. So good!

If you're near Chapel Hill, A Southern Season always has some good stuff you can pick up there.
