I am still curious as to where the OP is located. Ballentine is close to the northern border of Fuquay and for some Holly Springs residents this is their closest school. Also curious about the OPs base middle and high schools. While Ballentine is comparable to Holly Springs schools, there is a larger gap between Fuquay HS and HSHS.

I bought in Carrington Estates - it says Holly Grove Middle and Fuquay Varina High. Don't really understand the lottery system for the magnets- can you apply to more than one? I not so much conserned over Ballentine but the others.... should I be?

Thanks for the info - you have the identical school assignments to me. It looks like you are right on the Fuquay / HS border and Ballentine is probably the closest elementary school to you. So I guess that assignment does make sense. Another advantage to Ballentine is you will hopefully have a greater chance of getting the track you want, as it is less crowded than the HS schools.

Hope I didn't concern you with my earlier comments about Ballentine - most of my neighbors go there and love it. (I did have one neighbor move to Herbert Akins because of a bad relationship with the principal, and another neighbor has chosen to home school.) Our family took advantage of the brief "Choice Program" to go elsewhere but I would have no problem sending my kids to Ballentine.

Holly Grove Middle also looks to be an excellent school, no problems there. Fuquay HS is an above average Wake County school but certainly not an elite school, IMO. For us, this is so far away that we are not really thinking about it, so much can change over the next 5 - 10 years.

I'll let others talk about magnets, except to say that yes you can apply to multiple - only problem is they will all be really far from you.
