Title pretty much says it. We do not have family in the area and would like to go out on Christmas Eve. We have two young kids, 7 and 3. They are pretty good in the chain type places, Olive Garden that sort of thing. We have taken them to Tribeca Tavern a few times. I am looking for something different, nice, but still kid friendly for an early dinner. Any suggestions? They are good eaters, any menu with some type of chicken, steak or burger, or pasta will work. I would love to go to the Melting Pot, but that just makes me a little nervous with our younger child......

Thanks!

We go to Daniel's on Christmas Eve....not my fave but my dad likes it and he foots the bill It's also convenient for all of us. And very kid friendly on Christmas Eve - it's all families with kids believe it or not.

My only caveat is that it may be hard to get a reservation at this point - my dad made ours Thanksgiving weekend and we had very little choice of time - we are a large party though.

We usually go to 35 Chinese on Christmas Eve. Usually lots of kids there too.

Before reading your full message I was going to suggest Melting Pot since that's where we always took our young kids on Christmas Eve. We never had problems but if your 3 year old is a "grabber" I can see how you'd be concerned.

It has been so long since we have been there, I can not really remember how tricky it might be with him. Maybe we will try it anyway.

We used to take ours there when they were smaller. My eldest was even a bit excitable, as he's ADHD. Never had an incident.

I'm not sure what is open/closed Christmas Eve, but here is a list of places open Christmas Day - you could look to see if they are open Christmas Eve too. Admittedly, many of these are fancy and may not be good for kids, but I think a few would be fine. Like Papparazi in Lafayette Village, (what kid doesn't like pizza?). Besides, Lafayette village would also provide a nice area to walk around with your children for a few minutes and enjoy the lights and the tree.

^^ I'm clueless! I've never gone out to eat on Christmas Eve (at least that I can remember!)

My DD's birthday is Christmas Eve so we ALWAYS go out to eat. Her preference is usually Sushi Thai!
