I know this is a dumb question but why do so many homes have cars backed into their driveways? Why not pull straight in? Is this a southern thing or is there a reason for it? Seems like it would be a hassle to do this unless you live on a really busy street and can't ever get out of your driveway. Jus' wonderin...
I back in ever since the day several years ago that the 3 year old across the street started running over to say 'Hi" whenever he saw me in the car.
I could see him better pulling out than backing out. It just became a habit.

If you noticed it today, it might be because of the snow. It's easier to drive straight out of an icy driveway than to try and back out of one.
I noticed several cars this evening that were backed in and parked near the end of the driveway so they can get out easily tomorrow.
We have always had the car that is parked on the left pull forward into the garage and the car on the right back in. Both drivers can fully open their door without worry of door dings into our vehicles
I always backed the fire truck in, so I just continued with the tradition. I back into parking spaces too. You got to back up one way or the other...so I prefer backing in and pulling out.
