Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools do not make their call until 5:30 a.m. the day of the forecasted event (unless, obviously, conditions have already deteriorated the evening before). We get the phone call and email notification at that time.

Note, though, that it doesn't change much. They still make the call based on what is forecast. Yesterday, for example, they still announced a delay because freezing rain was forecast later that morning. Given that, would you rather know before you went to bed, or be woken up early to get the news?

So what's the map saying now? LOL

And on a lighter note...got this from a friend on facebook:

Wake County 5 hour delay tomorrow. There may be a puddle on I-40!

THIS IS A JOKE.

I've never heard of a 3-hour delay before. At both school districts I was associated with in PA and VA, it was a 1-hour delay, a 2-hour delay or cancelled.

I actually enjoy school delays here in Chapel Hill, even if there is nothing on the ground. I think the schools start entirely too early and get out too early.
