I was wondering what was going on with the former Rockwell's restaurant in Cary. Seems the owner has changed his mind and is trying another concept. It will become Dean's Seafood and Oysters. I used to really enjoy his other restaurant, Michael Dean's in Raleigh. All info points to it opening sometime this week.
It opened already. Hubby and I just got back from there. We had the clams for an app, then I had the scallops and he had the pistachio encrusted salmon. For dessert Dean brought back S'Mores!! Hubby had the chocolate peanut butter cake. It was all super delicious. The space is gorgeous. The service was outstanding. I hope it does well. I only wish it was closer to us.
Great news! I'll have to check it out. I always like Michael Dean's at it's original location, but then never really got around to it's "newer" location.
I was hoping that there would be live music on the weekends like the ole' location in Raleigh used to host, but I do not see that on their website. But, I won't be too demanding: I will be happy to have the fresh seafood nearby!
Rocky Top Group is out of business within 24 months, completely.
The new Tribecca group is a raging success.
Looking at Dean's menu, it looks good, but there are too many excellent places to eat in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area that I'd probably never get around to his menu. For that price-point, there are too many great options. (and many at lower price points that are no less awesome.)
I wish him luck, and I hope I'm wrong. The restaurant business is very tough.
