Hi folks... I posted a while ago looking for feedback on 2 different neighborhoods and I'm happy to report we bought a house in MacArthur Park in Cary. We close a week from Tuesday!!!! I've been in denial that I'm actually relocating.... and now that the movers have packed up about 80% of our household goods (gotta love a military PCS!) it's definitely feeling real!
I'm looking for recommendations for a Pediatrician, Primary Care Physician, and OB/GYN. If you have any feedback on physicians to avoid, please send me a private message. I'm also looking for a vet for my 2 dogs... all feedback is welcome! And because of my dogs, we will be looking to install a fence ASAP (yes - we know we need the community gods approval! ) Know of any good fence installers? Any/all recommendations are appreciated!!!!
I look forward to learning all about my new home and checking out some of the places y'all have been talking about here on the forum!
Welcome to Cary! I considered several houses in MacArthur Park and really love that neighborhood.
I want to highly recommend Dr. James Womble. Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He's my PCP but I know quite a few of his patients are kids. He's about 2 miles from MacArthur Park. Take Cary Parkway to High House Rd and turn Right. It's 1.5 miles on the left.

He's the first doctor I had that has never made me feel rushed. I can't stop saying good things about my experience with their practice (there are two doctors and a nurse practitioner). He answering my questions, addressing my concerns, etc. Very thorough and great "bedside" manner. I am very pleased with the professionalism of everyone in the office. I've never had a problem getting a same-day appointment for sudden illness, etc.
We used Rome Fence for our fence. He was recommended by a neighbor. We were happy with him and when we had a problem with the latch on the gate he fixed it promptly. I liked that the owner actually did the installation with two other guys. We also got a quote from Seagars which I've heard good things about. Outdoor Structures has done many of the fences in our neighborhood.
MacArthur Park is part of the Parkway PUD over near the Cary Y, correct? If so, two really good vet options nearby.
Parkway Animal Hospital at the corner of Cary Parkway and Old Apex.
Town and Country Vetinary Hospital just down the road after Old Apex becomes Salem Street.
I've used both over the years. T&C is great for boarding dogs, too. We currently use T&C for both boarding and vet.
Apex Pediatrics is wonderful. I also really like my primary care doctor, Derek Schroeder. When my dog had a mysterious rash, I went to nearly every vet in Cary and in Apex and no one was able to cure it, let alone diagnose it. It went on for almost a year before I found my current vet, Gene Bailey of Animal Hospital of Peak Plaza (on Highway 55). He diagnosed and cured my dog with in a couple of weeks. On top of being a great diagnostician, he is gentle and very smart. He has taken on a partner and she is also great, though I don't remember her name.
Phone numbers:
Apex Pediatrics 290-1090, located on highway 55
Derek Schroder 859-5955, Waverly Place
Animal Hospital of Peak Plaza 362-0515, highway 55
The highway 55 offices are convenient to McArthur Park. The Waverly Place office is a 10-15 minute drive.
