To each their own! I remember living in GA in my 20s, making almost no money and living on a very, very tight budget. All of my weekly shopping was at the local Super Walmart. It was depressing there, and its depressing here, even in the "nice" one in Brier Creek.

Luckily, my budget is better now and I have lots of options. I much prefer Harris Teeters! I love their selection, bright, clean stores and their employees have always been nice. The customer experience is 10x that of Walmart and Lowes Foods (IMO). And, as many have mentioned, with their sales and coupon policies (or events like Super Doubles - starting tomorrow ) they frequently beat even Walmart in prices. I would be really, really sad to see them go!

Lowes Foods is just meh to me, even with their re-done store in BC.

Or, Martin's, which Giant-Carlisle has expanded as far south as Petersburg, VA?
That would let them glom onto a common and historical NC surname...

"I see dead grocery stores."

More grocery wars coming to the Triangle, methinks.
Walmart is stirring the pot.

ugh, i sure hope not. martin's took over the lovely institution of ukrop's & has run it into the ground. the only redeeming quality & reason that i go to martin's ever when home visiting my parents is to get their bakery items (which still retain the dot's bakery of ukrop's name) & the ukrop's prepared items like salads, etc.
