Hi the forums are for you guys and this is poll if you want to know if the sticky should be changed or stay as is or rotated.

Only one sticky is allowed per forum is why this poll is needed and suggestions are very welcome of what stickys you would like .

If you want to have a sticky later on please direct message a moderator and we will investigate it.

Why do you say that only one sticky is allowed? We've had 2 stickies in the past - as recently as this summer. We had one for the photo thread and one for an approaching meet-up.

Is a sticky a thread that remains at the top of the list of threads?

When we've had meetups in the past the mods have temporarily stickied the info for a few wks so we could coordinate our plans, but have stated that technically only one sticky at a time is allowed.

It would be very nice to have a rotating temporary second sticky officially ok'd

And even better would be more than two sticky's allowed for a group as large as this one. The NC forums get the most posts in all of city data.

The administrator of the site suggested only one forum sticky to each forum due to more than one crowds out the forum and takes up space that other threads could occupy.

As active as this forum is someone may be searching relocation information and their thread may go unanswered.

A fellow member suggested to me for a Durham meetup sticky and I am now checking to see if it ok with most of everyone of this forum before a such rotation is made.

However best way to keep a thread at the top regardless of subject is to encourage others to post in it.

Yes I do remember BullCityRising saying it was a max of two - that was when we planned the Cary meetup.

Very good points and I will run this idea over with the administrator since Raleigh and Charlotte forum are very active.

I still don't understand what's wrong with having 2 sticky threads, SunnyKayak. We've done it before. Moreover, other categories on the city-data forums continue to do it (the Oklahoma forum currently has 2 stickies). Nobody is saying we want to have a dozen sticky threads clogging up the top of the list. We just want 2 ... just like what we've done before and just like what others continue to do.

I am all for the current sticky of area photos being rotated out to make room for other sticky like plans for a meet-up. Ideally people will keep posting photos and comments to the area photo thread (I know I will), which will keep it active. I have noticed in the past that newcomers often don't notice the sticky anyway and make posts asking for pictures. In those cases, somebody usually directs them to the photo thread, which we can still do even if it isn't a sticky!
