I just happen to own one of those split levels. It is dark beige on the bottom and light beige on top. Helps the house stand out.

Cary is a safe, quiet and tranquil place. Perhaps a little too quiet. But pleasant in some ways.

It's also chock-full of two-faced, insecure and uptight snobs you wish you had never met.

I suppose you're one of those rebels growing tomatoes in your front yard, aren't you?

That's what you get for volunteering to be on one of your HOA committees.

I once spent a year on a landscaping committee arguing over whether there was limit to Liriope.

I've lived here over 12 years now. The mixed reviews are fairly accurate because they come from a mixed demographic. I don't imagine an active youngster would find Cary terribly interesting (and that actually goes for the whole Triangle area). But for families with growing kids, those boring beige homes represent safety, planning and cleanliness. I can understand all the angst about Cary being boring, but that's a matter of perspective. I hated it when I moved here at 25, but at 38 I couldn't ask for a better place to live

I agree. When we decided to move to this area, we looked all over and decided on Cary because of the transit system, the safety, and all the trails and parks.

The downtown is going through some long planned changes, sounds like more of a Hillsborough downtown feeling -- new restaurants, unique shops, interesting bars, upscale hotel, etc. Perhaps the planned music venue will appeal to the younger crowd.

Art Center is out-of-this-world wonderful. Great recreation centers and extensive parks and rec programs.

Desperately need a new library. Current one is cramped and crowded. Book selection is limited by space. Staff is great, but little room for displays or programs. Not even rumors that this going to happen, alas.

There are plans to build a whole new library. You can find all the plans at Town Hall.
