Anyone else experienced a similar house-shaking boom this evening? What was it? Scared the crap out of me and woke the baby up.
M
Yes, we heard it - twice. Did you hear the second one? Both were much louder than the (hunting) gunshots I've heard in the area. Almost like a canon or explosion or something. Still have no clue what the heck it was.
We also experienced the booms. One at 8:50 PM and another at close to 10:00 PM. Our location is also near Hwy 50 and Hwy 98. It appeared as the explosions or whatever they were came from the north. Seemed way to big to be fireworks or a celebration type cannon. The Wake County Sheriff's office was investigating last night as they had many calls about the booms. At first I was frightened that a plane might have gone down but the second boom cleared that thought. Also seems unlikely that someone made "two" large bombs for the fun of it. I doubt they would have set a second one off after experiencing the first and knowing the police would be on the prowl. We may never know what they were but now I can imagine what it must feel like to be in a war torn place and be on edge all of the time.
