Need Appointment with Shoulder Surgeon in Durham/Chapel Hill area? (Wilson: insurance, transfer) - Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary - North Carolina (NC) -The Triangle Area - City-Data Forum

Any advice on a good surgeon who does shoulder surgeries in Durham/Chapel Hill area? It may need to be with a physician not in the Duke medical system since they don't seem to accept TRICARE insurance, even as a secondary insurance provider.

How about Triangle Orthopedics? They have an office in Durham and my husband received great care from them.

Ditto. Dr. Joe Wilson is their shoulder specialist. They do their surgery at NC Specialty Hospital which is across from Durham Regional. Good doctor and good guy and everyone at the hospital is soooo nice.

I went to them several years ago and had the most negative medical experience of my life. I injured my shoulder, and the first doctor they assigned me was a pediatric wrist specialist! She misdiagnosed me. The second doctor admitted that the diagnosis was wrong but then he failed to correct the chart, so that when I went back, I was again being treated for the wrong thing. He gave me a cortisone shot that missed and made my shoulder worse, so my PT told me to cut back on therapy until my next visit. When I transferred to another practice and picked up my chart, I found this had been entered as "patient cut back on therapy and got worse." All they did was cover up each others' mistakes and blame me when things went wrong. Horrible, horrible! I wouldn't wish them on my worse enemy.

I am currently being treated by Triangle Ortho. Have Dr. Mallon and doing PT there also. I had a slight auto accident as we were just moving to area (hit high curb and airbag deployed and broke my arm very close to shoulder). Ball was still in socket so I did not need surgery. I have been very satisfied with them. I use the facility on Highway 54 called Southpoint Professional center.
