That is true..around here "ranch" gets you a one story house ...

There are some horse farms and cowboys in the area, but they are a definite minority. Seeing someone in a cowboy hat, vest and boots is not unheard of.

If you start to get lonely, just stop by the Bull Chute on Glenwood Ave.

What a refreshing discussion thread. I was expecting another "Will I be stared out because I'm black/Asian/albino/LGBT with albino Asian kids/etc.?" thread, and OP turned out to be a hat-wearing, boot kicking, beefcake cowboy. Then, C-D responds with some of the best wit without rancor that I've witnessed in a while.

Thanks to all for a bright spot on an otherwise cloudy, windy day!

Reminds me of the personal ad, "Man seeking woman who loves the cowboy way and has a nice horse. Send picture of horse."

OP, you might look in the area around the western part of the Triangle. There's more land there, but it's still close to get into town. We have a lot of farms in the area that are diverse and raise cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, tomatoes, watermelon, potatoes, etc. Fickle Creek Farm north of Chapel Hill has a permaculture focus where the animals feed the soil and the soil feeds the animals. You might like to check out this article about the two guys who run Fickle Creek.

Nobody would care.

You could hang out at Carousel Farms, which is 7 minutes from our smack-dab-in-the-city subdivision (Brentwood).

They host the annual rodeo at the NC fairgrounds.

I had no clue they existed until a couple of weeks ago.

Just make sure the chaps are full wraparounds. It's been cold here lately.
