Because it looks like an airport when you're driving by it.

The side with Noodles and Co, CineBowl, It's Sugar, etc is nice, but you have to get in there to see it.

This is very true as well. The western side of Parkside has little visibility from 55. It's too bad they couldn't have some how brought retail closer toward 55 and somehow integrated those massive retention ponds as some form of water feature within the center itself. Some kind of weird riverwalk meets lake thing, sorta like Barefoot Landing down in Myrtle or Downtown Disney (Disney Springs) in Florida.

Sort of how Park West now has residential smack dab in the middle of their "District" area.

I really don't understand why they put those apartments so damn far away from everything. You've got your residential as far as possible away from the grocery store and that grocery store is across the street from a major road. Whomever designed this thing needs a smack upside the head.
That was the original plan. Basically apartments above retail along that whole sectionmof small shops. They probably couldn't get funding as after the meltdown, lenders started getting scared of anything not in a really defined box.

I have friends who live in those apartments and I visit them often. It was a cool idea/concept that was a miserably failed execution. You can walk to the movie theater, restaurants, and the very few occupied storefront shops....but that's only about 1/3 of the total retail stuff there. You have to cross a ridiculous intersection to get to the Target/Harris Teeter side.

No and no.

Hickory Tavern website just has the location and "Coming soon" Cary, NC | Hickory Tavern | Hickory Tavern is the perfect place for a business lunch - or - lunch with the girls. It's perfect for dinner after the kids' baseball game - or - date night with that special someone. If you're looking to celebrate the da

I think the Bradford pulled it off better. Smaller scale so even if the retail is not below ,it is right there not across what feels like a major road.

Bradford is another one that could have been way better, but it got attacked so viciously by NIMBYs they had to scale it way back and split the retail up. Wouldn't have hurt them to use a color or two on that place. At least an earth tone green and blue.

Compared to Searstone, the Bradford looks great. I know this is Cary and we have a reputation for beige but that place looks like beige bunker with tons of concrete surrounding it and not enough landscaping.

Searstone has a bunch of building left to go. They do have some pretty ugly sides of buildings showing right now for sure.
