Kroger bought HT partially because of the superior produce HT offers.

Well, Harris Teeter might be a step up from what the local Kroger stores offer. It's funny though because in Ohio, where I'm from, Kroger has some great stores and unfortunately their stores here seem kind of dumpy and gross.

I agree there are some nice Kroger stores in other areas.

There used to be nice Kroger stores here, too.
Wakefield
6 Forks @ Wake Forest
Apex/Lake Pine
I never was in the one on MLK in SE Raleigh, but thought it was considered a "nice" store, too.
At some point, it seems that Kroger made a decision that nice stores were not necessarily profitable stores, and pulled the plug on a lot of their "nice."

Yeah. I lived in Wakefield back when that Kroger was nice. Wakefield even had a REALLY nice Food Lion. Go figure.
