I used to be a big fan of Gourmandises de France on Creedmoor before they closed. I was wondering if there were any other good places to get French pastry in the Triangle, particularly my favorite pastry - mille feuilles (or as they're better known here in the States, napoleons). Before anybody suggests La Farm, while La Farm is tasty, they do not do mille feuilles. I've asked. Places like Sugarland might do them special order, but I'd hate to special order a whole tray of something when I just want one or two. So, City-Data - any good French patisseries out there?

Call Hereghty Patisserie, Cafe in Raleigh. Pastries, Desserts and Wedding Cakes

We had some out of this world pastries there a few months ago. Napoleans? Do not recall. They rotate pastries so you may have to be there on the right day.

Good luck.

OMG I miss Gourmandises de France. I was so sad when they closed. I feel like I have seen Napoleans once at Loaf in downtown Durham. You might try messaging them on their Facebook page (I find the people who answer their phone hit or miss on product knowledge). Another possibility is Guglhupf though their focus is German.

One thing that is somewhat similar to a Napolean but more rustic is the bienenstich Annalore's makes. Probably won't solve your craving but it's a tasty alternative.

Oh and I just remembered sometimes on weekends they have them at NYBD III. Haven't tried them there but might be worth checking out.

Definitely give Hereghty's a call. Mille-feuille doesn't appear to be on the regular menu but as noted, there is a rotating selection and I feel like I've seen it there before.

Also, not a pastisserie but Saint Jacques offers a version of a mille-feuille on their dessert menu and I believe the flavor changes with the season.

I wasn't that impressed with La Farm for pastries and haven't been back there recently. I'll definitely share if I find a good place. Not holding my breath though! I've been at Hereghty once or twice. It was pretty good. I heard it changed ownership about a year ago or more.

Agreed on La Farm. Their bread is good, their pastries not so much. Which is how it works in France so I guess it shouldn't be surprising that a bread shop makes so so pastries. I vastly prefer Loaf for things like croissants.

I also think La Farm is a better place to get bread.
