Not sure how to word the question, the title is my best attempt at it.

In our neighborhood lived a gentleman who is now in the assisted care system, he's been declared incompetent, and an old family friend is his guardian both financial and health-wise.

There have been some fishy goings-on with the house he owns in our neighborhood... maybe all above board, but it looks bad, And said family friend has been verbally abusive to many people in the neighborhood so we can't just ask.

Several of us would like whoever in the court system is in charge of such matters to check in to see if the elderly neighbor's best interests are being served by this person.

If all is as it should be, then fine. But would be nice to have this checked.

I found this page, but no info on how to contact anyone on this.

AOC FAQ

Thought I could possibly get some info from fellow C-Ders on this if you happen to know. Thanks!

Try this link:

Elder Abuse Victims

There is a link to local Departments of Social Services.

Hope this helps. Thanks for being a good and thoughtful neighbor!

Here's a Ric Edelman article on the topic.
http://www.ricedelman.com/galleries/...ial-report.pdf

It includes the following
"If in doubt, report suspected financial abuse to law enforcement, your state’s adult protective services department (find contact information at the National Center on Elder Abuse:National Center on Elder Abuse) or the compliance department of the financial institution involved."

Thumbs up Thank you all!

We have places to start with now.

I'm gathering info, another is going to make the phone calls. I really hope we're wrong on this!

He was the first person to welcome me to our neighborhood, a sweet old guy.

But new expensive cars, clothes, etc... well you'd understand our misgivings. That's all I'm going to say in case we're wrong. Which I hope we are, did I say that yet?
