I ate breakfast at the Your House Restaurant on Capital Blvd almost every day for close to 30 years. They closed it down a few months ago and now I don't know where to go in that area for a good home cooked breakfast with the same atmosphere. A few of the regular customers now go to Steak n Shake every day but I don't care for it as much. Does anyone know a good place? Where do y'all go for bacon or sausage and eggs and grits and hashbrowns cooked on a grill? Any places left like that? I cook at home sometimes but not as good.

I've never been, but I've heard really good things about Courtney's on Six Forks near Wake Forest Rd.

It's downtown, but Big Ed's is pretty tasty!

On our list to try:

Finch's Restaurant
Pam's Farm House

Have also stopped at the Biscuitville on Wake Forest Rd and it's packed inside and the drive-through line wraps around the building!

When I'm looking for greasy spoon, Finch's or Waffle House usually hit the spot. If I'm looking to spend a little more I enjoy Big Ed's. I was sad when they tore down the diner on Glenwood across from Pleasant Valley. Very similar to Your House.

Farmer's market restaurant if we go out, which is rare.

I eat breakfast at home. Eat out everyday for 30 years?! I'm not rich!

I drive by a little place called Watkin's Grill every morning on the way to work. It is always hopping from the looks of the parking lot. I get the impression it is a favorite with several local police since I see their cars parked there a lot. Got to be honest, I've never been inside but it looks like and Old School place that has been around forever!

How about Waffle House or iHop?

Carson Kressley of TV fame went to a local Waffle House (Raleigh or Cary) last week and enjoyed it.

We had older relatives who ate at Biscuitville probably several times a week for a loooong time.

I feel like IHOP is outrageously expensive for what it is, especially if you're just looking for eggs and grits. Doubt the grits would be as good as somewhere like Waffle House, too.

Watkins Grill has been there for ages. It's a greasy spoon kind of joint, but I have to admit that the food is pretty darn good

I eat at home mostly...grits and toast, oatmeal or something simple. I go to McDonald's for an egg Mac Muffin when I want to splurge.
