A clerk at Trader Joe's in Cary told me today that he thinks the Chapel Hill Trader Joe's will probably open the day after Thanksgiving like the Cary one did last year. I know most stores have a soft opening so with any luck the store might open just before Thanksgiving.

I'm so glad it'll be open in time for the holidays. They sell so many wonderful goodies for the holidays.

Thank you for that. I am relocating to Durham in about a week or two from Atlanta, Georgia. My girlfriend from college lives there in Durham and told me there was no Trader Joe's in Durham! I thought I would die! Then, after a little research of my own, I found out there is one in Cary, and soon in Chapel Hill. We kept trying to figure out exactly when it would open; glad to know it will be soon. I have just gotten so attached to Trader Joe's here in Atlanta, I can't live without it!

Is there an address you have off hand for the new Trader Joes?

I heard it was going into the old location for A Southern Season, which is in Eastgate.

J-Lurk is right. Eastgate is located maybe 1/2 a mile north of University Mall, the current home of A Southern Season.

So very close to the Chapel Hill Whole Foods then? The wife and I just went there this weekend... Chapel Hill Whole Foods is expanding also! Can't wait for a new and improved WF along with TJs!

Yes, they are VERY close to one another. It should be quite convenient for tons of people. Ya think Whole Foods might slash some prices because of the competition on their doorstep?

Hold on... CH Whole Foods is expanding? Yay! Anyone have any more details about that? I've always tried to avoid that location b/c it's so tiny and cramped... but it's the most convenient for me location-wise. An expansion would be most welcome. What's the timeframe on that?

My wife and I were just in the store yesterday and we asked 'when the heck are you going to expand'...

Unfortunately they are going to be in the same location, but they are taking over some of the shops to the right and left (I noticed the PTA store is moving 3-4 doors down).

So parking will still be an issue (sigh) but maybe the aisles won't be so cramped.
