I currently live in Cary near lake Crabtree and thinking about getting a Kayak. My current apartment would fit one 10 feet in length no problem, but I want a 12 foot kayak and not sure if it will fit. Aside renting a storage unit for $75 a month, does anyone have any bright ideas on how to store or where to store a 12' kayak cheap and easy? I wouldint mind paying to store it, just not $75.
Does it have to be a hardshell? My friend used one of these for a few years when living in a smaller place and really liked it. I think he had the smaller size 10.5 but they have a 13 foot version -
OP - where do you kayak there? We may be forced to move back to NC and have our own kayaks - use them in Nevada currently. Hoping there is somewhere other than Kerr Lake and Neuse River!

There are quite a few flat water kayaking opportunities in the Raleigh area (and even more if you want to venture a little further out). This website has tons of great information: Doggie Paddling the Triangle.
Whitewater is a little harder to find, except after heavy rain.
I have a 14' plastic kayak and store it alongside my garage. It'd be pretty hard to justify $75/month just to store a kayak, so maybe you can find a fellow kayaking aficionado who can keep it for you? I'm actually wondering what I'll do if I get another kayak this year - probably have to come up with a more secure location (and possibly also buy a trailer).

I need a good sturdy one. I am building a hybrid prototype kayak to be registered. I need a hard hull to bolt the removable motor housing to . Most likely looking at a 12' sit-on-top.

Jordan lake, Falls lake, Shearon-Harris Nuclear reservoir, Lake wheeler, Crabtree, Benson, Many miles of nice still water around, not so many rapids. I just want my own vessel so I can take advantage!
