I am due for an oil change, and need Mobil 1 full synthetic. Can anyone recommend a good place? I would prefer N or NW Raleigh, but will consider other areas if they offer good service. It's for a Saab 9-3.

No i'm not crawling under my car to do it myself. I would prefer a place that I drive in myself and wait inside the car so I can see the work being done. I called Jiffy lube and they only carry Pennzoil. While it might be comparable, I only use Mobil 1 in my cars.

Will Jiffy Lube-like places allow you to bring your own oil?

Try AAA service centers. You need not be a member.

Try a Saab dealership. Most will let you bring your own oil and some carry Mobil 1 synthetic since it appears to be a popular oil choice.

I doubt any oil change place will let you sit inside the car while they are changing the oil due to insurance/liability reasons.

I too like to watch what is being done to my car. I watch through the big window at Jiffy Lube. However, I took my car in for an inspection recently and they had a large poster over the window so you could not see out in the bay........makes you wonder.

I do it myself, that way I know it gets done right every time. I only use mobil-1 synthetic. I know Saabs and certain other European model cars can be a pain in the rear to change the oil yourself (especially German cars). I thought most places would allow you to bring your own oil and filter if you wanted to, even Jiffy Lube?

Atlantic Tire. There is one off Glenwood, but they won't let you drive in the bay for liability reasons.

Very few Saab dealership still exist. I used to live by one a few months ago, but I wouldn't take it there for an oil change anyway. They were too pricey.

I've been getting my oil changed in my cars for 15 years, and I've always sat in my car.

Personally I don't feel it's worth my time. I spend an extra $35 and I don't have to get out any tools, jack up the car, get dirty, then dispose of the oil. I wouldn't want to take my car to Jiffy just from talking to the people who answered the phone. They never offered it to me so I wont bother with them anyway.

I might give them a call. I see there's a Mobil 1 Lube express in Durham. I don't know Durham all that well, but I might have to venture there and see how it looks. Google street view makes it look a little rough, but i'm from the Detroit area so it's probably not that bad. I used to drive 25 minutes to the place that changed my oil back in Michigan. They were smart, friendly, and had good prices. You drive up, they direct you in, and you sit in your car while they changed it. 10-15 minutes unless there were people in front of you.

Where can you do this in the Raleigh area?

There is a new oil change place on Capital just north of Spring Forest rd called "Take 5". It's in the old Your House restaurant. They advertise for you to sit in the car while getting the oil changed. Might want to check them out.
