I came out to watch them start moving the Merrimon house on Saturday. It was quite the spectacle to see in person - watching on TV just can't convey the enormity of seeing a huge house moving from where it sat for so many years. I didn't stay for the entire move, but I watched the house move from its lot to Blount St. I think it is great that the value of these beautiful homes has finally been recognized after so many of their neighbors have already been lost, and that lengths are being taken to keep them around for years to come.

I'm viewing from work (shhhh!) so it could be that the site the photos are linked from is blocked, but I wanted to throw it out there in case some adjustment needs to be made.

Imagine the nerve of them - trying to keep me from spending my time looking at important community development information! I suppose they expect me to work or something.
The Man is always trying to drag me down, I tell ya!

It's just a picture of a red brick building, a white house out of place and a Krispy Kreme sign. You didn't miss much.
Good thing that the folks moving there won't have money leftover afterwards... that could be dangerous! Pocket money + Krispy Kreme next door? Perish the thought!
This thread is a bit old...but wanted to provide an update. The neighborhood has progressed quite a bit...in fact their first ROW homes are finished! They look gorgeous, if I do say so myself.
