I'm pretty sure they would do comparisons by towns of similar size and population density.

There are four "Conversations" taking place in June and my understanding is that anyone is welcome to come and observe the Committee for the Future that meets the fourth Tuesday of every month in the Cary Arts Center.

Imagine Cary | Creating a Community Plan for the Town of Cary has more information.

The train has clearly left the station with regards to walkable urban development. But folks can hop on board at any point. Looks to be an interesting ride.

Unless Cary wants to be a sleepy, little bedroom community for RTP, this seems to be a good way to attract innovative young professionals who view buying and maintaining cars a waste of time and money.

I would say Durham's downtown is in WAY better shape than say 10-15 years ago. Due largely to urban style development.

I know at least one council member is very against any changes. I did not go to the meeting, but i don't think anyone is trying to say Cary should suddenly stop letting people live where they want to live or stop allowing subdivisions, but there certainly seems to be room for some more dense development in the downtown core.
