I was perusing some of the old threads and saw an interest level from those desiring to metal detect in the greater Raleigh area. Some posters are no longer active on C-D so I am unable to direct message them.

I, too, am looking to find a buddy or 3 who are interested in finding quality places to treasure hunt. I have a nice machine (a White's) but I am a novice and would be learning as I go. I would love to spend part of a weekend day once or twice a month searching for hidden goodies. I am not really interested in joining a club cuz I know I would fail to get the motivation to attend meetings at night.

If anyone is interested in pursuing something, or has tips to share, please post on here or DM me. Thanks!

I also have a new detector and am quite the novice with it. I am in the same boat with you in lack of time during the week and not able to "attend" meetings for groups on a consistent basis, but I would like to find other folks who have similar interests.

Buncha' comedians!

It's a "pitching" horsehoe that was lost a few years ago, and has driven me crazy since I've been unable to locate it. By now it's probably got a decent cover of leaves and straw over it. It's blue for Pete's sake! Shouldn't have been hard to find, but we've looked and looked for it! It would be the first thing I did if I ever buy a detector, which I've contemplated for a while now. My grandad used to have one and I used to love finding stuff with it.

Sign me up. I've got one and I'd love to learn how to use it better. Somebody create a meetup group and let me know. Casual, of course.
